Dog Sports Classes

These classes serve to introduce dogs and owners to the many sports that well-trained dogs can participate in.

 

Agility Classes

Puppy Agility Intro

  • ​Introduction to equipment

  • Handler focus & teamwork games

  • Building confidence

  • Prerequisite:  Any previous or concurrent puppy obedience class

Intro to Speedway Games

  • Introduction to tunnels, hoops & barrels

  • Handler focus & teamwork games

  • Prerequisite:  Any previous or concurrent obedience class

Speedway Games

  • For dogs with previous speedway experience

  • Continuing training

  • Preparation for speedway competition

Agility 101

 

  • Introduction to jumps, contact obstacles (A-frame, teeter and dog walk)

  • Beginning sequencing

  • Handler focus & teamwork

  • Prerequisite:  Previous obedience & speedway or agility training

Nosework

  • Introduction to scents (Birch, Anise, Clove, Myrhh)

  • Dogs learn to locate the scents

  • Handlers learn to read their dog's signal when scent is located

  • Suitable for dogs of any age and most physical capability

Dog Carting

  • Learn what type of equipment you need and how to acquire it

  • Overview of draft work

  • Introductory maneuvering skills

  • Obedience routines for testing

  • Proofing and conditioning dogs and handlers in the skills needed to pass the AWCA Carting Test
